Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know, All in One Place

Is there a minimum service charge?
Yes, we do ask that customers spend at least $150 in services. We do however waive this requirement for our Squire and Paladin Knights Circle Members.
How often should I clean my carpets?

The frequency of carpet cleaning depends on several factors, such as how many people use the space, the number of pets you have, the age of the carpet, and even what kind of backyard/front yard you have. As a general guideline, cleaning your carpets every 6-12 months works well for most homes, but this can vary based on your specific needs.

How much does it cost to clean my carpets?
Our standard rate is $0.35 per square foot for carpet cleaning. We offer bulk pricing for larger areas and commercial carpets, as well as discounted package deals. Call us to learn about the current specials we’re offering!
Do you charge extra to remove pet damage?
We love furry friends! Small pet treatments are included at no extra charge because we understand accidents happen. For extensive pet damage, we will discuss any additional charges with you before starting the service.
What payment methods can I use?
We accept a variety of payment methods: Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, cash, check, and all major credit cards. Please note that Venmo and card payments incur a service charge.
Do you use chemicals to clean?
At Shining Knight Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning, we prioritize safe and effective cleaning solutions. All our cleaning products are free from harsh chemicals like albuterol and are non-carcinogenic, non-toxic, and non-corrosive. Our products leave your carpets soft, clean, and safe for your family.

We’re so confident in the safety of our cleaning agents that we provide their Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on our website for your review. If you have any questions or would like us to omit specific products, just let us know!

How much do you charge to clean a couch?
The cost of cleaning a couch depends on the type (e.g., sectional, recliner, standard) and material. On average, we charge $45 per seating area. Chaises and ottomans range from $10 to $35 each, depending on size.
Do you clean floors other than carpet?
Yes! We’re fully equipped to clean natural stone, ceramic tile and grout, vinyl planks, vinyl tile, concrete, laminate, wood, and even athletic mats for wrestling, jiu-jitsu, judo, and dance studios.
How long will my carpet take to dry?
Drying time varies based on factors like temperature, humidity, the type of carpet, and the level of soiling. Typically, carpets take 4-8 hours to dry. To speed up the process, ensure there’s good airflow and avoid walking on the carpet until it’s fully dry. Please don’t use towels or blankets to absorb moisture, as this can interfere with proper drying and potentially damage the carpet. Instead, you can turn on your house fan, A/C or ceiling fans.
Why should I choose Hot Water Extraction (HWE) over bonnet cleaning?
We offer both methods, but Hot Water Extraction (HWE) is often the best choice for residential carpets. HWE uses steam and high-powered suction to sanitize and remove dirt effectively. HWE not only removes dirt but also allergens and bacteria, making it ideal for homes with kids or pets. Bonnet cleaning, also known as Very Low Moisture (VLM) cleaning, works well for commercial-grade carpets or those with shorter fibers but may not be as effective for longer residential carpet fibers.
Should I move my furniture before you clean the carpets?
You’re welcome to move any furniture, but we don’t recommend rearranging entire rooms before cleaning. Placing furniture back onto damp carpet or padding can cause damage. We’re happy to help relocate smaller items to an area that won’t be cleaned. Please clear the floor of small items like baskets, chairs, vases, and other fragile objects before our arrival. For larger items such as beds, bookcases, and desks, we’ll gladly clean around them.
Are your products safe for my home?
At Shining Knight Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning, all our cleaning products are
Non-carcinogenic, Non-Toxic, and Non-Corrosive.
We believe in keeping your home safe and are committed to transparency. Unlike many other companies
that hide their product information, we believe you deserve to know exactly what’s being used in your home.
Our products are free from harsh chemicals like albuterol, leaving your carpets feeling soft, clean, and safe for your family. We have tested multiple products and found the safest ones for your home that also get the best results. It’s a win/win!
We first receive them in concentrated form, and then properly dilute them so they are safe to use in the home.

We’re so confident in the cleaning agents we use that we’ve listed all the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) right here on our site for you to review. (Keep in mind, all the information on the sheets are for their most concentrated form.
As mentioned, we take the proper steps to properly dilute the cleaning agents to specification before they reach your door making them safe to use.)

We take the science of carpet cleaning seriously, selecting only the highest quality products that are both effective and safe.

If you would like us to omit any items, or have any questions about what we use, please don’t hesitate to ask!
